MOB RIOTS AT THE U.S. CAPITOL

Biden’s Electoral Victory Confirmed in the Midst of Pro-Trump Deadly Mob Riots at the Capitol.

January 07, 2021
New York, NY
January 6, 2021, will be written about for many years.  During the largely ceremonial count of electoral college votes, insurrectionist supporters of Past-President Donald Trump occupied, looted, and vandalized the U.S. Capitol for several hours.  Four people died, including one woman who was fatally shot by Capitol police while trying to break into the House Chamber.  The siege ended when the National Guard and FBI were deployed to restore order.
The FBI has started an investigation to identify the individuals involved in this assault and has launched an online form to obtain “information related to violent activity at the U.S. Capitol Building.”
During this turmoil, the Georgia run-off elections for Senate were concluded. Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, both Democrats, were declared winners.  These two Senate seats mean that the U.S. Senate is composed of 50 Democratic Senators and 50 Republican Senators.  In the event of a tie, the Vice President casts the deciding vote which means the Democrats have the majority vote.  The other chamber of the U.S. Congress, the House of Representatives, is also majority Democratic.  The democratic majority likely means that President Joe Biden will have control of both houses of Congress.  This may allow for more of President Biden’s policies and his overall agenda to be implemented.
UNITED SIKHS condemns the violence at the Capitol and it’s grateful that the mob has been contained without any further losses.
We continue to work to advocate for the community with the newly elected administration.
We appreciate our communities’ continued support.
