Global Sikh Civil & Human Rights Report Release Event
Dear ,
UNITED SIKHS is a U.N. affiliated international non-profit organization dedicated to advocacy, human development, and humanitarian relief for disadvantaged and minority communities around the world. We would be honored to have you attend our Global Sikh Civil & Human Rights Report Release Event on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 4:00pm-5:00pm at 1539 Longworth Building, Washington, DC.
The Global Sikh Civil and Human Rights report, the only one of its kind, is a product of intense research, field observations, surveys and input on Sikh issues from local residents and lawyers in various countries around the world. The 166-page report references civil and human rights abuses perpetrated against Sikhs in 28 countries, including the United States, India, France, Canada, Australia, and Afghanistan. The 2012-2013 report is the fifth report; the first was tabled in 2008 at the First Global Sikh Civil and Human Rights Conference in New York.
Taking place at the heels of the one year anniversary of the American Sikh Congressional Caucus, this event will include a briefing on the issues faced by Sikhs around the world through UNITED SIKHS’ newly released report.

Speakers, including Co-Chair of the American Sikh Congressional Caucus, Congresswoman Judy Chu, will discuss the need for this report, and will reflect on the reality of the religious freedom fight across the globe based on the findings from the report.
