Recent set of bombing attacks on the southeast gate of Hamid Karzai International Airport (Kabul) have triggered unrest and fear among the already terrified Afghan nationals who are desperately waiting for evacuation. The attack has killed dozens of civilians and at least 13 U.S troops.
UNITED SIKHS extends its prayers & condolences for the lives lost in Kabul.
Fortunately, the Afghan Hindu and Sikh minorities were at a safe shelter while these tragic bombings took place. A member of the community sent an audio message requesting to be shared with the world. He confirmed that all the group members are safe.
Since the last few days, the community has been making desperate attempts to reach the airport, but have had to turn back unsuccessfully each time. In their recent attempt made on August 25th, a caravan of 9 minibuses came under gunfire as it approached the airport. At least one vehicle was hit but thankfully no one was injured.
Our team members continue to explore all possible options to evacuate Afghan minorities to safety..
We will keep you informed with the latest updates from the ground.
We appreciate your support for our mission in these grave hours and to assist the continuing functioning of our Afghan Helpdesk in New Delhi.
