Letter to SGPC President for Old Structure Found in Amritsar

UNITED SIKHS has written to Bibi Jagir Kaur, President SGPC with regard to an old building found during excavation carried out in the premises of Sachkhand Sri Harimandir Sahib, Sri Amritsar for extending joda ghar.
UNITED SIKHS condemns the carelessness regarding possible historical sites found during recent excavation works carried out around the Akaal Takhat complex. It is imperative that every effort is undertaken to preserve our history and heritage for the future generations.
We have written the letter to the SGPC President on behalf of the Sikh Sangat who are concerned regarding the old building or structures found during excavation in the premises of Shri Harimandir Sahib. We humbly pray that history of these structures be known through historians and these be preserved.
“Ancient and old structures with Sikh historical importance are witnesses to the history which would help our future generation to understand the Sikh history and stay connected with our ancient past. These need to be rehabilitated to their original appearance and should be preserved, said Dr. Esher Singh, Legal Director, UNITED SIKHS.”
He also stated that “These ancient buildings and structures and prays that such destruction, if still caried on, be stopped with an immediate effect, as such a destruction shall be an irreparable loss to Sikh history and heritage. These structures should be preserved with the help of Archeological department.”
