Ontario announces new capacity limits for religious sites
UNITED SIKHS is delighted to share the news that the government has agreed to increase the capacity limits for religious sites in regions currently in grey-lockdown level. For the past few weeks, our team, in cooperation with other religious organizations has been having meetings with Premier Ford, Minister Elliott and Dr. Williams.
“We are committed to serving communities whenever they need us. In this pandemic, our volunteers are serving from the beginning and in our tough times, prayers play a big role. We thank Premier Ford for his decision and UNITED SIKHS will continue to lobby for our community,” Sukhwinder Singh, Director, UNITED SIKHS.
The new regulations will be effective from Monday, March 15, 2021, at 12:01 a.m. The religious sites will be permitted to allow for up to 15 percent total occupancy indoors, or up to 50 people outdoors.
In spite of the announcement of new rules, Dr. David Williams, Chief Medical Officer of Health, also suggested, “We all must remain vigilant and continue following public health advice and measures to prevent transmission, as variants of concern are continuing to become more prevalent throughout the province and threaten to undue all of the positive gains, we have all worked so hard to achieve”.
We are also thankful to other organizations who signed the original letter to the Premier of Ontario and Chief Medical officer of Health.
